Circus Announcements

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Update: Oops! Added the links!

I am so excited to share today’s post with you. A few months ago, Ty Mattson gave me a sneak peek his son’s birth announcements and I have been giddy with anticipation to post them. Well he finally mailed these out to his lucky friends and family so we can now all appreciate them as well!

Ty used two colors to letterpress these circus themed announcements and the red/blue combination brilliantly overlaps to create the third darker color. Every last detail of this birth announcement is perfection and I can’t imagine a more cheerful design to celebrate the birth of a son. Congratulations to Ty, his wife and their new bundle of joy!

Crochet Covered Rocks

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Speaking of gardening, how about this beautifully inspired collection of crochet covered rocks?! The juxtaposition of the delicate crochet and the stones is breath taking and perfectly serene. Created by Margaret Ooman, I discovered her while scouting through the Flickr Garden Glam Set and coming across an image influenced by her work.

The quote “Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.” from Frank Lloyd Wright is the inspiration behind Margaret’s work. See more of her amazing collection on her Flickr page and Etsy Shop and follow her work on her blog; Resurrection Fern.

These flower grenades from Suck UK take guerilla gardening to the next level. Just throw a couple of these at the nearest urban blight and with a little rain and luck, you can expect to see an explosion of wild flowers in a few weeks!

Boxsal Picnic Boxes

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Hi gang, so sorry for the absence these last two days! I threw my husband a surprise party for his 30th birthday over the weekend and we’ve had family in town so I took a few days off to spend with them. I can’t wait to share some of the details from the party but that’ll have to be for another day so stay tuned!

In the meantime, you must check out these super clever, eco-friendly picnic boxes from Boxsal. Made from cardboard and complete with fully compostable picnic essentials , these all-inclusive boxes have everything you need to get your nosh on in style! Available in three styles: Urban Picnic, Today’s Date, and Office Escape – something for everyone! I adore this completely new and original take on the picnic and hope to see a few of these around this year!

Purchase yours through the Boxsal Store and discover creative ways to pack your Boxsal from the Boxsal Blog. Thanks to Jamie of Design Milk for spreading the word, I love these!

Daily Drop Cap

Friday, July 16th, 2010

I have the biggest design crush on Jessica Hische, a renowned illustrator, designer and typographer. Her influence within the design community is quite astounding and her work continues to inspire me. Inspired by vintage fruit crate type, Jessica has quickly become well known for her use of color and creativity with letterforms. I’m not sure how I missed it but I recently discovered Daily Drop Cap, a site where Jessica graciously provides one initial cap a day for use in blog posts along with instructions. Above are just a few of my faves.

Want to see more of her amazing work and a stunning short video if the artist herself; watch this! It’s incredibly insightful and celebrates her work beautifully. By Semi-Permanent
