Dying for Donuts!

January 10th, 2011

Last weeks post about Ladurée reminded me of these mini donuts I bookmarked a few weeks back on Such Pretty Things. I’ve never attempted to make dounuts myself; partly because I’m afraid of boiling oil but mostly because I fear I’d eat them all in one sitting! These, however, seem like something I could manage. And since they’re baked, if I do eat them all by myself, it would only be half as bad.

Thanks to Jessica for posting her inspiring images! She says they are not only super easy to make but incredibly delicious as well. I can’t wait to give these a try, and I’ll be sure to post about them when I do. Have any of you made donuts, was it worth the effort? I’d love to know what you think!

I love these photos — such lovely colors! How could you NOT want to try a baked donut recipe?

Doughnuts are definitely worth the effort. I’ve made them several times. I was afraid of the oil, too, and the rising dough. But the oil doesn’t splatter in the slightest, and a slightly warm oven helps with the rising.

    Mmmm…doughnuts.

I’ve never made them myself but my mom does have a secret doughnut recipe (similar to cider doughnuts) that I hope to master one day. I think until then, I’ll stick to the baked doughnuts like this these – great post! I’ve also see doughnut mixes and pans you can buy for even easier baking!

I received the cutest electric donut maker for Christmas! I

Oh my gosh, I just tried these over the weekend with cupcake batter and all I can say is “don’t use too much!” With this pan you really only need a little bit of batter or else you’ll end up with little bunt cakes like I did! Ha! Oh, and spray the pan so they come out easier. Fun, but you’ll need a lot of pans if you’re feeding a crowd, they are tiny!
