DIY Pumpkin Place Cards

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

It’s been a while since I’ve done a DIY just for Twig & Thistle, so today I’m doing something about it! These place settings are super easy and a great way to add a little festivity to your next autumnal get together. All you need are mini pumpkins, card stock and floral wire.

Instructions
1. Download and print the Leaf Template onto green card stock, then cut out using scissors or an x-acto knife.

2. Take a length of floral wire and wrap it around a pencil, slide it off and stretch it out a bit to make it look like a vine.

3. Tape one end of the wire to the back of the paper leaf and wrap middle of the wire around the stem of the pumpkin. Enjoy!

Also, today is the last day of our Silhouette SD giveaway so if you haven’t entered yet, times a wasting!

Wild Ink Press

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

I just happened upon the beautiful work of  Wild Ink Press yesterday and I’m unbelievably impressed. From everyday cards to custom wedding invites, this married duo have an impressive letterpress line.

I particularly love this rich and romantic New Orleans inspired wedding invite featured in their custom section. Printed onto thick cotton paper and paired with black envelopes, it’s a feast for the eyes! I love that they mixed the silver ink with opaque white to get the printing to pop on the dark envelopes. Saving that trick for next time I’m on press!

Check out more of their work online and on their blog. Enjoy!

A Martha Halloween

Monday, September 27th, 2010

It must be all the fall projects I’m working on lately but I’ve definitely got the Halloween spirit already. I’m especially excited about the new Martha Stewart Halloween line.

I’ve always had a hard time with the holiday only because all the decorations fealt so over-the-top and tacky. Martha has managed to bring a bit of style and good design into her party goods and I completely appreciate that. Leave it to Martha to even class up even Halloween!

Kitten by Analog Girl in a Digital World via ffffound

Whew, what a week! Work has been a whirlwind of big clents and lot’s of meetings and I’ve been a super busy blogger too! I’ve enjoyed guest posting on Black Eiffel as well and in case you missed any of the posts you can check them out here: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

I’ve also been trying to recruit more friends and family to help vote for my Better Homes & Garden’s mask in hopes that I could pull out of last place but to no avail. There’s still plenty of time so I’m not giving up hope just yet! Get your votes in here and vote daily if you remember – many thanks!

Yesterday’s giveaway announcement was a huge success, shutting the site down momentarily with such a high volume of traffic. Always a good problem to have but apologies if you weren’t able to get through.
