I spotted this beautiful first birthday invitation and certificate on Pinterest yesterday in Inspired Bride’s collection. This suite was created by the husband and wife team of Duet letterpress for their adorable daughter, Emily. What a lucky girl!

The invitation is letterpressed on the smaller pink card and details from the 1st year are included in the certificate. Both were bundled up with baker’s twine along with a picture of the birthday girl in a small glassine envelope.

I think the certificate is such a sweet way of celebrating all those simple moments and big milestones with your friends and family. See more pictures and find out the details about the printing here.

Printed Silhouette

I saw this project on Design Sponge months ago and knew that I wanted to try making one myself. I know this has been really popular lately and I apologize if it feels redundant but I just couldn’t resist trying it out!

My Nephew’s 1st Birthday was Saturday so to celebrate I made this as a little gift. Cole’s parents decorated his room with these adorable Robot Wall Decals by Blik. To fit in with their decorations I traced the decals in Illustrator and made the pattern and then Cole’s silhouette. The great thing about this project is that you can make it as simple or complex as you like. For example; I would have liked to have cut the silhouette out of black paper and mount it to the pattern but I ran out of time. Instead I decided to simply print the entire thing. To make it feel more special I printed it on (my favorite) photo fabric and mounted it. I think it turned out well and hopefully made a gift his parents can enjoy.

If you’re not up for the challenge of making your own I recently spotted some stunning custom papercut silhouettes by Chirp! Studio on Jack and Izzy. Lovely, lovely work.

I finally have the complete set of baby shower goodies up on my Etsy shop! It seems that so many people I know are having babies these days so I felt inspired to make a baby shower kit of sorts. When I hosted a friends shower last year I had such a blast but it was quite the challange to come up with all the details. Hopefully this set will make planning a little easier for some of you.

This set, fondly named “Li’l Tweet”, is just the beggining of what I hope to offer in my shop but to celebrate I wanted to host a little give away! One lucky winner will recieve a Li’l Tweet Stitch Kit in one of four colors: green, pink, yellow or blue.

*To enter, just leave a comment below with your first name and last initial and tell us what you would do with your very own Li’l Tweet. You have until 11:59 PDT Thursday, April 2, to enter. The winner will be selected randomly on April 3rd and announced on Twig & Thistle, Monday, April 6th! Good luck!

NOTE: THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED

Coin Banks

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

My mother-in-law, Marilyn, was looking for a piggy bank for my nephew. I was curious to see what was out there and was pleasantly surprised to find some pretty adorable offerings. I’m pretty sure my favorite is the little elephant from Elegant Baby. The proportions are just perfect and I love the big ears and little nose!
