St. Patrick’s Day Cake!

St. Patrick’s Day is only a few days away but there are still plenty of fun and creative projects to do in time. I personally like ones that involve at least a little sugar and this one definitely delivers!

I can hardly think of anything better than seven lucky layers of yummy cake! Amanda, of I Am Baker, put this beautiful shamrock cake together by gradually adding food coloring to each layer before cooking.

Wether for St. Patrick’s Day or not, I love the look of a gradated cake and hope to make one of my own some day. Truly stunning!



A Jam & Tea Bridal Shower

Dying for Donuts!

Last weeks post about Ladurée reminded me of these mini donuts I bookmarked a few weeks back on Such Pretty Things. I’ve never attempted to make dounuts myself; partly because I’m afraid of boiling oil but mostly because I fear I’d eat them all in one sitting! These, however, seem like something I could manage. And since they’re baked, if I do eat them all by myself, it would only be half as bad.

Thanks to Jessica for posting her inspiring images! She says they are not only super easy to make but incredibly delicious as well. I can’t wait to give these a try, and I’ll be sure to post about them when I do. Have any of you made donuts, was it worth the effort? I’d love to know what you think!



Mini Gingerbread Tea House

What better way to sweeten your tea or coffee during the winter than with a miniature gingerbread house! Megan, of Not Martha, documented her process and managed to make a simple template with instructions which you can find here.

I adore her use of sugar sprinkles for snow and how the houses add the sweetest decoration to a simple cup! If you’ve got some down time over the next few days, this is a must try!



Well Branded: Flour Pot

This identity system for the Flour Pot Bakery just might be my favorite yet! From the cheerful color palette and the whimsical hand-drawn type, it’s charming without being over-the-top.

Sara Nicely, the brilliant designer behind the design, created the system to best illustrate the natural baked goods and eclectic shop environment. The best part is the strategically placed menu on the baguette bag so that customers can carry it home and read it while enjoying their loaf – brilliant!
