Well Groomed Blog!

Friday, June 17th, 2011

One of my all time favorites, Shauna Young, recently announced that her husband launched Well-Groomed; a style blog for grooms. Darren has put together a fantastic resource for those style-conscious, detail-oriented gents that could use a hand in preparing for their big day.

I’m excited to see what’s in store for Well-Groomed and so far it’s a terrific source for wedding trends all from the male perspective. Well done Darren and thanks for sharing!

Wood & Faulk

Thursday, June 16th, 2011

I’m obsessed with the Northwesterner series of canvas bags from Wood & Falk. The leather and waxed canvas make for a timeless, practical and versatile all use bag.

I’m a huge fan of Matt’s work outside of bags as well. I first came across his DIY on Design*Sponge and have been perusing his blog ever since. Matt’s projects are brilliant and photographed beautifully by Lisa Warninger. When you have a moment, be sure to check out his shop and blog.

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

1. Vintage Candelabra $34 (each) / 2. Beige Pendant $57 / 3. Retro-Classic Chairs $192 (for 2) / 4. Enchanted Canvas Wall Art $199 /5. Oak Dining Table $299 / 6. Antique Pitcher $35 / 7. Dinner Plates $25 (for set of 4)  / 8. Salad Plates $20 (for set of 4) / 9. Low Bowl $14.95 / 10. Pokal Drinking Glass $0.59 / Linen Placemat for Two $14.95 / Linen Napkin $4.95 (each) TOTAL = $1724.77

For some reason I have the decorating bug lately and I’m currently trying to revamp our home office. I’m really not so good at the decorating thing but I’d like to be! I had fun with the first Get The Look featuring a stunning living room by designer Sarah Richardson. I found it incredibly fun to source items that would have a similar feel but at a fraction of the cost.

In this Get The Look, I was able to find some great pieces (at great prices) that really resemble this casual dining room originally spotted in Casa Magazine via Steph Modo. The item I’m least satisfied with are the candelabras but I’m sure a little hunting at a local thrift shop might be the right place to shop for those. Total cost: $1724.77 Not too bad for a table for eight including table, chairs and art work!

A Mrs. Proper Table Setting

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

Mrs. Lilien always has the most clever combinations and playful collections when it comes to fashion. She’s a favorite that I visit for style inspiration and a dose of class.

I particularly love her recent post about setting a proper table when entertaining. If it’s one thing I absolutely love, it’s a good ol’ dinner party! But it can be a bit of a challenge to remember the approprite place for each of the flatware, glassware and dinner plates.

Thanks to Mrs. Lilien’s charming illustration, setting the perfect table is confusing no more! Read the full article here for a complete explanation of the proper Mrs. table setting. Cheers!

Favorite Trend: The Bow!

Are bows the new bird?! I’m of the mind that one can never have too many bows! Don’t they just make everything so much sweeter?
