Giveaway!! Silhouette Digital Cutting Tool

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

Ok peeps, this is our biggest giveaway yet and I have been so excited to share it with you! I was recently given a Silhouette Cutting Machine to test out and review. If I wasn’t happy with it I could send it back, no questions asked. Um, ok!

I’d seen similar machines on the market and had actually looked into purchasing the Silhouette a while back but wasn’t entirely convinced. This was the perfect opportunity for me to see it what it could really do. The Silhouette works just like a printer but instead of printing your artwork, it cuts it. The best part is that there are no cartridges – you create your own text and shapes. Plus, it comes with images and even more available to purchase online! Being a designer, I wanted complete control over the designs and I have all the tools I need to create custom designs so that’s why this particular one appealed to me most.

They just launched their Mac software so I haven’t had a ton of time to test out all the features but so far I am overwhelmingly pleased with the results. I’ve managed to cut out 200 envelope liners in 45 minuets which normally would have taken me at least five hours. I cut out perfect leaf shapes without using an x-acto knife and even a box template which can be a bit time consuming.

There are so many things that this little machine can do and I honestly can NOT wait to try them each out. You can purchase vinyl to cut and use to create custom displays in your home. You can even use the vinyl to adhere to glass and create custom etchings! You can buy Tattoo Paper to make temporary tattoos as well as heat transfer paper for adding designs to fabric. Seriously, the possibilities are endless!

Above is a quick gift I wrapped for a friend who bought her first home. I wanted a unique embellishment that would be indicative of the momentous occasion. Keys seemed like an obvious choice and I thought they’d make a pretty addition. I love how it turned out and with the Silhouette it was super simple to do.

So, here’s the EXCITING part, Silhouette is giving away a machine to ONE lucky winner!!! That’s a $299.99 value! The gift includes the machine, software for Windows XP/Vista and Mac, 2 cutting mats, a blade and a $10 gift card to their online store. WOWZA!

Paris Breakfast

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

There aren’t enough superlatives to describe how much I adore the watercolor works of Carol Gillott. Living in New York and day dreaming of Paris, she paints “petite bites of Parisien flavor”. You can see more of her sweet pieces on her blog and Flickr page or purchase an original through her Etsy shop.

Papa Peters

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Remember this adorable poster celebrating the couples baby-to-be? Well, they had their little one and this is the birth announcement. I have to say, this is hands down, one of the most beautiful birth announcements I’ve ever seen! Every tiny detail was thought out and executed brilliantly. Papa Allan Peters must be one proud dewd!

Etsy Crush: Planet Fur

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Not only is the shop name completely adorable but the merchandise melts my heart! These minature animal heads are so sweet and would be an adorable addition to any room. Marlous, the creative genius behind these busts, lives in the Netherlands and creates each of her furry friends by hand.

Though tough to pick a single favorite, I think Hermione the Rhino takes the cake. Evidently Hermione like to throw parties , which explains her little party hat! Check out the Planet Fur shop here.

*Also, Rachel of Black Eiffel asked me to guest blog for her while she’s taking care of her new baby girl India Grace. I’ll be there all this week, so make sure to stop by for a double-scoop of Twig & Thistle!

Lost in ffffound No.16

Friday, September 17th, 2010

It’s beginning to feel a lot like fall around here. Maybe it’s all the autumn inspired projects I’m working on lately but the grey skys and rain showers just add to the feeling. Today’s Lost in ffffound is a tribute to the season and the brisk days ahead.

Have a great weekend everyone and be sure to check back Monday. I’ve got an exciting week coming up plus a giveaway that you won’t want to miss!
