Well Branded: Claridge’s Hotel

Friday, May 21st, 2010

This identity for Claridge’s Luxury Hotel is the epitome of a well branded company. I love the combination of the bright teal and gold with the stark black and white. There’s a perfect mix of classic sophistication juxtaposed with a bold modern simplicity. The use of bold patterns on the wrapping paper, the pencils and the envelope liner is executed brilliantly. This beautiful system was designed by Construct, a design boutique in London and more of their fantastic work can be seen on their site and blog.

I find the work by Nichole Sloan to be incredibly inspiring and majestic. Here are some shots of a beautiful promotional piece titled “Ruby & Jack” that I got in the mail recently from Nichole. From the gorgeous little kids, to the styling, her work is simply enchanting! See more of Nichole’s stunning work on her site here.

Hi gang! Remember those super cool Lost Posters by Ty Mattson that I posted about a few months back? Well lucky for us, the folks over at ABC teamed up with him and are now selling them online at the store. Right now the smoke monster poster is available and the others are soon to follow. Ty was also fortunate enough to meet up with most of the Lost cast at LOST LIVE: The Final Celebration, here’s a pic of him getting his business card from Daniel Faraday!

Some other exciting news, the lovely ladies at The Bright Side project are in the middle of their month long series of featuring some of their favorite bloggers. I was asked to submit 10 of my favorite things and you can now enter to win a few of them for yourself! One lucky winner will receive a set of 20 personalized letterpress recipe cards from Petite Press, Two prints from artist Alyssa Nassner and a ‘Hello’ wood sign by artist William Dohman!

Is it wrong that I want to enter my own name?! Seriously, the prizes this month have been amazing and the series has been so much fun to follow. I’ve read about so many of my favorites and discovered more blogs to watch! Be sure to stop on over for a chance to win some of the fabulous prizes and say hello to the lovely ladies of The Bright Side Project.

Taste The Rainbow!

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Yesterday’s post featuring that adorable striped sweater from Anthropologie reminded me of a picture I had saved a bit ago from Whisk Kid. How amazing is this rainbow cake?! Having just recently attempted to make a tiered cake myself, I know what an incredible challenge all those layers can be, so I’m doubly impressed. What I still can’t wrap my brain around is that frosting! How did she manage to make it so darn smooth?! The colors are equally as impressive and bright – wowza! Now if only I could get a taste through the screen…

Sprung for Spring!

Monday, May 17th, 2010

With warmer weather on the way I’ve got the urge to add some color to my wardrobe. My friend Melissa has this Fossil Stella watch in green and I was delighted to find out it came in a host of equally cute colors. Paired with a striped sweater from Anthropologie and wedge espadrilles from it would make a great outfit for a Spring weekend!
